Infants react to people and situations with their entire bodies. Toys that engage any or all of their senses will encourage them to explore and discover - which is how babies learn best. Some things to keep in mind:
- Babies are natural scientists. Once they have discovered something, like any true scientist, they test it –over and over again until they are certain of it.
- Babies soon learn that they can make things happen and their explorations become more intentional.
Toys that lead to new discoveries – toys with stimulating textures, mirrors, buttons and sounds and that babies can activate themselves - encourage discovery and learning.- Their world expands dramatically as they start to crawl and stand up. Make sure to provide toys that encourage them to go places.
